After conceding a first innings deficit of 19 runs, St. Joseph’s College fought back to record a thrilling four-wicket victory over Maris Stella College with seven balls to spare as stand-in Captain Roscoe Thattil and bowlers, Dinal Dhambarage and Supeshala Jayathilaka impressed for the Darley Road team in their Under-19 cricket match ended at BOI Ground yesterday.

After being bowled out for 188 runs in reply to Maris Stella’s 207, Josephians came back to the match in dramatic fashion as spinners Jayathilaka, Thattil and former Captain Dhambarage shared ten wickets to skittle out their opponents for 82 runs.

Later, chasing a target of 102 to win in 16 overs, Joes reached the target with seven balls to spare. While Thattil was unbeaten 34 runs, Kevin Bernardus scored 33.

Earlier, Trevin de Silva top scored with 55 runs for Joes to post 188 in the first innings.
